It was active from \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/civilwar\/search-battles-detail.htm?battleCode=va014\"\u003eSeven Pines\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan\u003e to \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/civilwar\/search-battles-detail.htm?battleCode=va062\"\u003eCold Harbor\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, endured the battles and hardships of the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/civilwar\/search-battles-detail.htm?battleCode=va089\"\u003ePetersburg\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan\u003e siege south of the James River, and ended the war at \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/civilwar\/search-battles-detail.htm?battleCode=va097\"\u003eAppomattox\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. The regiment had 379 effectives in April, 1862, and sustained 138 casualties during the Seven Days' Battles, 28 at \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/civilwar\/search-battles-detail.htm?battleCode=va022\"\u003eCedar Mountain\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, and 52 at \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/civilwar\/search-battles-detail.htm?battleCode=va026\"\u003eSecond Manassas\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. It lost 8 killed and 67 wounded at \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/civilwar\/search-battles-detail.htm?battleCode=va032\"\u003eChancellorsville\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan\u003e and twelve percent of the 331 engaged at \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/civilwar\/search-battles-detail.htm?battleCode=pa002\"\u003eGettysburg\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan\u003e.
