The final iteration of four pattern changes from 1851 to 1858, the M1858 was the predominant dress coat utilizes by US during Civil War.

Mid length frock coat made from indigo blue broadcloth maintaining the trim pattern determined in the 1854 and 1855 frock coats of cuff and collar piping or cording coat has nine button front of general service buttons.

With the creation of the Berdan Sharpshooters, the unit adopted a modified M1858 Dress coat made in green and trimmed with emerald green piping. With exception to the color, the most striking feature of the garment was the use of black hard rubber buttons. However, unfortunately the supply of these buttons is no longer available at this time. All frocks are made with standard M1851 General Service buttons until new supplies can be found.
