The Five Indian Nations

The Cherokee, Choctaw, Muscogee (Creek), Chickasaw, and Seminole nations were recognized by the Confederacy. The last Confederate general to surrender was Brigadier-General Stand Watie (1806-1871), who was also Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation.
