Collection: Gadsden Flag Collection

Originally a symbol of the Revolution in South Carolina, the overall design of the Gadsden Flag would be widely adopted across the colonies. By the time of the Civil War, designs featuring a defending rattlesnake were widely adopted throughout the South (similar to the wide adoption of the Palmetto Tree outside of South Carolina). These designs are seen amongst many of the Southern states, including South Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, and Alabama.
