Cape Fear Defense - Fort Fisher and Caswell Garrison Flag Stickers
Cape Fear Defense - Fort Fisher and Caswell Garrison Flag Stickers
Fort Fisher:
Fort Fisher sticker is based on a flag captured in January of 1865 at Fort Fisher. The colors are a usual set of 2nd National Pattern, with a reverse of colors that is more common amongst colors found within the Trans-Mississippi Department.
Fort Casewll:
The Fort Caswell flag more closely aligns with the official regulations.
40th North Carolina:
The 40th was stationed in Fort Fisher and a substantial portion of the unit was captured when the fort fell in January 1865.
Coastal Defense Flag:
Flag is based on a surviving example returned to North Carolina from Massachusetts in 2003. The flag was marked as captured in North Carolina in 1862, but no additional information is known. There is some speculation that the flag was actually captured around the Wilmington Defense network, as it was returned with another flag associated with Fort Caswell - call into question the 1862 date. However, based on the information known, it does appear to be a NC associated flag likely linked to coastal defense.
Four stickers, one of each flag.
