Chickamauga - "The rebel yell filled the valleys and shook the mountains" - Shirt
Custom design in the design of a playing card. The top figure is that of a solider of the Army of Tennessee and bottom of the Army of Northern Virginia - both representing the primary forces of the Confederacy at the Battle of Chickamauga. The uniform appearance of the forces caused various instances of confusion on the field, with the Army of Tennessee's primary use of grey/butternut jean cloths from production in the Lower South. This was starkly contrasted by the new English Army Cloth uniforms (dark blue gray) of the Army of Northern Virginia'S Corp that had been transferred West to aid in the defense of Tennessee and Georgia.
The quote is from a Confederate officer describing the collapse of the Federal center during the battle - "The rebel yell filled the valleys and shook the mountains".
