South Carolina Sovereignty House Flag

These are modern all-weather nylon flags for your house or garden based on the original flag used by Chester County South Carolina. 

The blue field was traditional from 1776, as were the crescent and the palmetto. The red cross of St. George reflected the English heritage and Christian faith of South Carolina. The thirteen stars most likely represented the original thirteen colonies who "seceded" from the English union, with the center star representing South Carolina. Considering the heavy religious symbolism of the flag, the parallel representation of Christ and his disciples in the arrangement of stars cannot be discounted.

The design and color pattern of this flag were later adopted in the Army of Tennessee by General Leonidas Polk for use in his Corps, with the St. George's cross reflecting Polk's status as an ordained Episcopal bishop.
