Design based on the flag of the 1st Alabama Infantry. Design based on the flag carried by the first Alabama Infantry. The flag depicts the common Alabama theme of a snake protecting the cotton harvest. Included above the design is the Latin phrase "NOLI NI TANGERE" or "touch me not". Interestingly the original flag's Latin is misspelled, where is should read "NOLI ME TANGERE". The original spelling error has been corrected on the lapel pin.
