General Joseph E. Johnston - commander of forces in Virginia in 1861 and 1862, transferring to the West after being wounded at Seven Pines (Lee taking command of the ANV). He would be the pivotal commander rebuilding the AOT after the disaster at Lookout Mountain and Missionary Ridge. Johnston would show great skill during the Atlanta Campaign and would be the final commander of the remnants of the AOT during the Carolina Campaign of 1865.
