Like many states within the Confederacy, Georgia separately supplemented the supply of garments issued by the Confederate government. This example is based on a period image of the 21st Georgia infantry, with details in construction copying those found on surviving examples. The jacket comes with a worsted wool trimmed collar, back broadcloth epaulets and false cuff flaps, and an outside pocket. The jacket is closed with Georgia state buttons.

Examples of these jackets are seen from 1861-1864, with it being notable that such jackets are found in the Gettysburg Dead photos from July 2, 1863.
