Among the many garments pressed into service by the forces of Missouri and Arkansas, the simple wool overshirt in various plaids appear to be common place in the opening year of the war.
This shirt is based on a surviving photo form the 7th Texas Cavalry (Mounted Volunteers) and is made from blue wool flannel and trimmed on the cuffs, collar, pockets, and placket.
The shirts are made from plaid wool flannels, exact cloth my vary.
