North Carolina Coastal Flag
North Carolina Coastal Flag
These are modern all-weather nylon flags for your house or garden.
Flag is based on a surviving example returned to North Carolina from Massachusetts in 2003. The flag was marked as captured in North Carolina in 1862, but no additional information is known. There is some speculation that the flag was actually captured around the Wilmington Defense network, as it was returned with another flag associated with Fort Caswell - calls into question the 1862 date. If the 1862 date is correct, it is most likely a flag captured at the Battle of South Mills, however, no flags are noted as captured during the engagement by Massachusetts regiments. Units engaged in the battle included North Carolina State and Militia forces, Georgia regiments, and Virginias.
However, based on the information known, it does appear to be a NC associated flag likely linked to coastal defense.
