Richmond Clothing Bureau Jacket 1862
Richmond Clothing Bureau Jacket 1862
Richmond Clothing Bureau's earliest pattern of jacket was fully trimmed on the cuffs, collar, and epaulets. While no surviving example survives today, the photographic evidence of these garments starting in 1862 shows the wide issuance within the Army of Northern Virginia. In addition to the photographs, two privately contracted originals (privately produced copies of the Bureau's jacket) survive today, giving insight into the construction and patterning.
The reproductions are based on the construction found within the earliest Richmond jackets, with trim patterns based on the surviving private examples and period images.
