South Carolina Frock Coat - "Charleston Frock"
South Carolina Frock Coat - "Charleston Frock"
Like most Southern States, South Carolina had its own distinct garments produced both formally and by private individuals. During 1861-1863 there is a distinct pattern of frock coat that comes out of the region.
This frock coat is based on both surviving examples and widely photographed examples amongst the garrison of Charleston inn 1861-1863. The frock coat has two tail pockets, trimmed on the cuffs, collar, and front, and has false buttonhole trim on the collar. The frock coat is closed with South Carolina State buttons.
