"Spartanburg" Trousers - 18th South Carolina - Vicksburg Campaign
"Spartanburg" Trousers - 18th South Carolina - Vicksburg Campaign
Based on a pair worn by Private T. J. Moore, Company E, 18th South Carolina Infantry and believed to be a product of South Carolina production. The 18th served across the Confederacy, serving in the Army of Northern Virginia, then transferring to the Army of Mississippi, followed by a stent in Charleston, and finally back to the Army of Northern Virginia.
The trousers are made from blue jean cloth and are believed to have been produced in Spartanburg, South Carolina (a few miles from Beauregard's Tailor's current workshop). The trousers have a number of uncommon features, including a single piece button fly, mixed range of striped, checked, and osanburg linings, waistband topstitching, and other similar details.
