Trans-Mississippi 3rd National Flag based on a surviving example (unidentified unit). The flag is unseal in its rather large canton and gold stars.
While no known unit identification, the original flag matches the typical construction found on wartime production. However, like all surviving 3rd National flags there is debate on if it is truly wartime production or immediately post-war.
An interesting side note, is that there are several surviving 2nd National with the blue canton associated with the Army or Northern Virginia and North Carolina. Given that there is also one surviving confirmed wartime produced North Carolina 3rd National, in theory this flag could be from that theater in contrast to that of the more commonly associated Trans-Mississippi.
