Based on a jacket worn by Lt John Duncan Holiday - Tappan's Arkansas Brigade, the jacket is a usual style of almost Zouave pattern. The jacket has a single button closure, with service trim piping around the edge and collar is trimmed. The body of the coat is made from cadet gray broadcloth and lined in osanburg. Similar jackets are seen in use by various Missouri State Guards officers and other Trans-Mississippi officers.
