The Confederate Officer Frock coat is iconic to the Southern Cause, however other garments such as shell jackets, sack coats, walking coats, and etc. are also seen within the officer corp.
Based on the coat worn by Captain Charles Dimmock (Engineer officer of the Army of Northern Virginia), the coat is indicative of civilian style garments common to the late 1850s and early 1860s. The coat is double breasted and cut with a wide French sleeve. This offered example is heavily inspired by civilian style of the 1860s, sporting a relatively long length, interior pockets, bound trimmed edge, and lapel collar. The coat is fully lined in variety of cotton fabrics and body of the coat is offered in cadet gray and gray wool broadcloths.
